How do I avoid extra costs with a subscription when I am in a foreign country?

Your usage in a foreign country is not included in your month bundle, so you have to pay these charges separately. This occurs automatically and appears in your monthly invoice or payment invitation.

Here’s some tips on how to avoid extra costs:

  • Disable data roaming when you are not actively surfing.
    This prevents an internet connection being made in the background without you knowing about it. It is quite possible that some apps will automatically try to connect to the internet while in the background.
  • Limit the number of characters in your text message.
    For example, in your iPhone, you enable this via Settings → Message. The counter shows you when a text message is too long to send in one message.
  • Have people call you instead of you calling them. Our roaming wizard will show you that you being called is usually much cheaper. And, the person calling you does not pay extra because you are in a foreign country!
